DENIS, Mathieu

Mathieu Denis is a post-doctoral research affiliate at the Centre canadien d'études allemandes et européennes (Université de Montréal). He is currently working on vocational training in both German states after 1945 and unemployment in 20th Century Germany. He holds a Ph.D. in history from the Humboldt University (Berlin) and a Master’s Degree in contemporary German history and politics from Strasbourg’s Centre d’études germaniques. He graduated in German Studies and in History at the University of Ottawa. Denis has received prizes and scholarships from the Canadian Council of Research in Social Sciences and Humanities, the Fonds québécois de recherche sur la société et la culture, the DAAD, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canada, the Embassy of Switzerland in Canada, and the University of Ottawa.

Mathieu Denis has published essays and reviews in French, English and German, in Canada, France, Germany and England, on contemporary German history and labor history. He is the author of one book, two articles in anonymous, peer-reviewed academic journals, one annotated translation, and two essays in anthologies. Books reviews have appeared in German History, Economic History Review, and the International Newsletter of Communist Studies.
