PENNER, Nikolai

Nikolai Penner (Ph.D. Waterloo) has been with the Department of Linguistics and Languages at McMaster University (Hamilton, ON) since 2008 and teaches a number of German language and linguistics courses at various levels. Although his previous research focused on German varieties spoken in North America (mostly on a group known as Russian Mennonites), his current research interests lie in the areas of Second Language Teaching and Acquisition, and include Computer- and Mobile-Assisted Language Learning. Nikolai is currently engaged in several projects developing and testing educational software for L2 instruction, and is investigating the application and effects of gaming software for teaching foreign languages.
