MEJA, Volker

Volker Meja (PhD Brandeis University) is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Sociology at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He has worked in the areas of the sociology of knowledge and science, social and political thought, the history of ideas, and political ecology. He is an authority on present-day German sociology and on the social thought of Karl Mannheim. His recent book and article publications include: Karl Mannheim and the Legacy of Max Weber: Retrieving a Research Programme, with David Kettler and Colin Loader (2008); Society & Knowledge: Contemporary Perspectives in the Sociology of Knowledge & Science, ed. with Nico Stehr (2005); and "Karl Mannheim", "Max Scheler," In Fifty Key Sociologists, Ed.
