Suzanne K. Hilgendorf (PhD University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) is an Associate Professor of Linguistics and German in the Department of Linguistics, and is also affiliated with the Language Training Institute at Simon Fraser University. Her primary research interests comprise sociolinguistics, World Englishes, second language acquisition, foreign language pedagogy, and the use of technology in instruction. Of note, she is completing a book publication tentatively titled The Other Tongue of Germany: The English Language, to be published with Multilingual Matters. Since 2009 she is the Review Editor for the journal World Englishes. Her recent publications include the 2010 book chapter “English and the Global Market: The Language’s Impact in the German Business Domain” (Language and the Market, edited by Helen Kelly-Holmes and Gerlinde Mautner, published by Palgrave-Macmillan), and she is guest editor of the symposium journal issue "The Englishes of Europe in the New Millennium" (2007, World Englishes).
