Jason Lieblang is currently writing his PhD dissertation, which examines constructs of masculintiy in early Weimar popular culture, for the University of Toronto's German Department. He has been teaching German since 1999, first at UBC, then at the University of Toronto, and since September of 2006 at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond, BC. His research interests include: CALL; the use of authentic media, especially video, in second-language acquisition; video conferencing and second-language learning; the influences of German Romanticism; questions of gender during the Weimar Republic; the figure of Arminius in German national memory; German cinema history; as well as >> graphic design, especially the poster medium, on which he has published. Jason has also worked on a second-year German textbook based on the German television series ?Berlin, Berlin" and is currently developing a collection of teacher-training materials specifically for studio video-conferenced classes entitled "Approaching the Divided Classroom."
