Jan Plug (PhD, Comparative Literature, Buffalo) is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of English at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). His research interests are in English and German Romanticism, twentieth-century literature, literary theory (especially contemporary French and German theory), and Idealist philosophy. He is a member of UWO’s inter-disciplinary Romanticism and 18th/19th Studies Group, which brings together researchers from UWO and Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich. Currently, he is at work on Life Sentence, a book-length study of Robert Walser and theory (Benjamin, Agamben, and Sebald) that takes his work as its point of departure.
