Smith-Prei, Carrie

Carrie Smith-Prei (PhD 2006 Washington University in St. Louis) lectured at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth before becoming an Assistant Professor of German in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta in 2008. She also spent time as a lecturer at the University of Potsdam and as a visiting scholar at the Free University Berlin and Trinity College Dublin. Her articles focus on German film, masculinities, representations of the body, aesthetics and politics, publishing house history, and pop fiction. She is currently working on a monograph examining the relationship between family politics, masculinity, and negative narrative aesthetics in 1960s West German realisms.
