Dennis Sweeney (PhD Michigan) is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Classics at the University of Alberta. His expertise and research focus relates to: Modern German and European history; social and cultural history; historical methods and theories; labour and social movements; capitalism, class, and gender; state formation; empire and racism; and liberalism, socialism, and radical nationalism. At present, he is conducting a book-length study of the German political Right, imperialist ideology, and the invention of the racial state from 1890 to 1923. Notably, his book entitled Work, Race, and the Emergence of Radical Right Corporatism in Imperial Germany, was published in 2009 by the University of Michigan Press.
