Pnevmonidou, Elena

Elena Pnevmonidou completed her MA on Goehte's "Faust" and Hermann Hesse's "Steppenwolf" in 1994 at Queen's University. In 2004, she completed her dissertation on the novels of Early German Romantic writers Friedrich von Hardenberg (Novalis), Friedrich Hölderlin, and Friedrich Schlegel at McGill University, and received the Canadian Association of University Teachers of German Dissertation Prize in 2005. Although Dr. Pnevmonidou teaches courses on German literature and culture of the 18th, 19th, and even early 20th centuries, her research is mostly focused on German Romanticism. Subcategories within this broad area are gender studies, Romantic women writers, Romantic aesthetic theory, Romantic Orientalism.
