Currently, Kurt Huebner is a full professor at the Institute for European Studies at The University of British Columbia. He is a trained economist who spent much of his time at the Otto Suhr Institute of the Free University of Berlin. Early on he dealt with 'globalization' issues; international regimes; regulation theories; currency regimes, as well as with innovation, environment and sustainability. Research Description
Huebner's research interest is in the relationships between sustainability, innovation and international competitiveness. His previous work with the Institute for Ecological Economy Research resulted in a couple of publications. Currently, he is coordinating a international research team that analyzes national pathways to low carbon emission economies. This project is particularly interested in political strategies of core EU member economies in comparison to efforts in the US, Canada and China.
