Achim Hurrelmann joined Carleton University in January 2007 as Assistant Professor of Political Science. Previously he was Research Associate at the ‘Transformations of the State’ Research Center at the University of Bremen (Germany). He obtained his Political Science Diploma at the University of Hamburg in 2000 and his PhD at the University of Bremen in 2004. Before joining Carleton, he taught at the University of Essen, the University of Bremen, and International University Bremen (IUB). Achim Hurrelmann is a specialist for West European politics and European integration. His research focuses on democracy and constitutionalism in the European system of multilevel governance.
