Research Description
One of my academic specialties in German Idealism and its ramfications for contemporary political theory including post-modernism and critical theory. I have published articles on Hegel, Nietzsche, Marx, and Heidegger. I am working on a book called THE RECOLLECTION OF FREEDOM, which reads Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit as primarily a pedagogical (and not overtly political) classic. I am also writing a book IDEALISTS OF DEATH, to be published by Potomac Books, about utopian revolutionary movements. This will include a discussion of National Socialism including some of its 19th century roots in German music, literature and philosophy -- but also the extent to which those earlier German traditions stoutly resisted Volkish extremism.
