WIELAND, Norma

Norma Wieland has been a member of the department since 1976. She is a founding member of the Centre of Intercultural Language Studies where she was in charge of Teaching and Learning Enhancement. A former president of the UBC Faculty Association, she is currently seconded from teaching to serve as president of the Confederation of University Faculty Associations of B.C. (CUFA/BC), an organization which represents faculty from B.C.'s public universities. Her role involves working with other partners in post secondary education to inform and educate government on the needs of universities. Norma Wieland is a recipient of the Killam Prize for Excellence in Teaching and is currently serving students in the department as Minors, Majors and Honours Advisor. She is also chairs the Faculty of Arts English Essay Competition.
