Comparing Modes of Governance in Canada and the European Union (EU)

On October 14-15, 2011 the University of Victoria, Canada is hosting a CETD sponsored international conference Comparing Modes of Governance in Canada and the European Union (EU): Social Policy Engagement across Complex Multilevel Systems. Featuring over 30 EU and Canadian scholars and practitioners expert in comparative federalism and/or multilevel governance, our objective is to compare Canadian and EU approaches in order to draw out governance best practices, especially as it applies to labour market programs and supports for the unemployed; post-secondary education; and social inclusion (including immigrant and aboriginal integration, poverty, homelessness and multiculturalism).  More information is available on the conference website at http://web.uvic.ca/jmc/conference. Although the conference is free, advance registration is required.
